Expert-led IV iron therapy, personalized to your health, your needs, and your body.
Intravenous (IV) therapy delivers medication, nutrients, or fluids directly into the bloodstream through a small IV placed in a vein.
At The Borough Health and Wellness Clinic, our primary IV therapy service is medically supervised iron infusion therapy for patients with iron deficiency who may benefit from intravenous iron.
Iron is essential for producing hemoglobin, the protein that carries oxygen throughout the body. When iron levels are low, patients may experience symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, reduced exercise tolerance, headaches, dizziness, or difficulty concentrating. For some patients, oral iron supplements may not be tolerated or may not adequately restore iron levels.
Our approach begins with medical assessment and appropriate bloodwork to determine whether IV iron is appropriate for you. Treatment is provided under medical supervision, with your individual health history, symptoms, and laboratory results taken into consideration.

IV iron may be appropriate for adults with confirmed iron deficiency or iron-deficiency anemia when oral iron is ineffective, poorly tolerated, insufficient, or not an appropriate option.
It may be considered for patients experiencing:
Iron deficiency or iron-deficiency anemia
Persistent fatigue associated with low iron
Fatigue, low energy, and burnout
Difficulty tolerating oral iron supplements
Poor absorption of oral iron
Increased iron needs related to certain health conditions
Iron deficiency associated with heavy menstrual bleeding
Iron deficiency during or after pregnancy, when clinically appropriate
Not everyone with fatigue or low energy has an iron deficiency, which is why proper assessment is an important first step. Our physicians review your symptoms, medical history, and laboratory results before recommending treatment.
For patients who are appropriate candidates, IV iron can replenish iron stores more directly than oral supplementation and may be useful when oral iron has not worked or cannot be tolerated.
Potential benefits include:
Restoring iron levels and iron stores
Supporting healthy red blood cell production
Improving symptoms associated with iron deficiency
Avoiding or reducing gastrointestinal side effects associated with some oral iron supplements
Providing an effective treatment option when oral supplementation is insufficient
Encourages sustainable lifestyle changes
Your care begins with a medical consultation and review of relevant bloodwork. If IV iron is appropriate, your physician will discuss the recommended treatment, what to expect during the infusion, and any potential risks or side effects.
During treatment, iron is administered through an IV while you are monitored by our medical team. The infusion itself is generally completed during a scheduled clinic visit, although the exact duration depends on the medication and dose prescribed.
We prioritize your comfort throughout the process and provide appropriate monitoring before, during, and after treatment.
“IV iron can be an incredibly useful treatment when it’s medically indicated. But the infusion is only one part of the picture—we want to understand why your iron is low in the first place and make sure we’re treating the whole patient, not just the lab result.”
